Creative Traffic Solutions for Downtown and Siesta Key

City and county leaders are on the verge of hailing new, creative efforts to reduce traffic congestion in downtown Sarasota and on Siesta Key. The plan would involve consolidating one of the bus routes on the key now, stretching south along Beach and Midnight Pass roads from the village area to Turtle Beach and back.

Boutique resort opens at Siesta gateway - Siesta Key Palms Hotel

Henry Rodriguez has taken motel more than a half-century old at the gateway to Siesta Key and spun it into a luxury, boutique resort. The Elephant Ear Suites at 1800 Stickney Point Road, just east of the bridge to Siesta Key, has gotten a complete facelift since Rodriguez bought the 21-unit property for about $2 million this spring.

Signs of Life for Sarasota Quay Development

The owner of the former Sarasota Quay property is taking initial steps toward development.

GreenPointe Communities, which paid $27 million for the 14-acre bayfront site last December, expects to submit a formal development plan to the city of Sarasota early 2016.
