Sarasota dining continues to expand with several new restaurants at the Westfield Siesta Key Mall. The Bravo Coastal Bar and Kitchen offers a fresh open design with a coastal feel and a variety of salads, small plates and casual dining fare. If you don't order dessert, you will have a second chance with the fresh bakery at the exit door.
City and county leaders are on the verge of hailing new, creative efforts to reduce traffic congestion in downtown Sarasota and on Siesta Key. The plan would involve consolidating one of the bus routes on the key now, stretching south along Beach and Midnight Pass roads from the village area to Turtle Beach and back.
Henry Rodriguez has taken motel more than a half-century old at the gateway to Siesta Key and spun it into a luxury, boutique resort. The Elephant Ear Suites at 1800 Stickney Point Road, just east of the bridge to Siesta Key, has gotten a complete facelift since Rodriguez bought the 21-unit property for about $2 million this spring.
